GOLDEN – The No. 12 Colorado School of Mines volleyball team will open up postseason play on Tuesday evening with a matchup against eighth-seeded Colorado Mesa in the quarterfinal round of the RMAC Volleyball Tournament at Lockridge Arena in Golden at 7 p.m.

Mines (23-5, 17-2 RMAC) enters the match after posting a 3-0 win over Colorado Christian on Tuesday before ending the week, and the regular season, with a 3-0 win over UC-Colorado Springs to clinch the program's first-ever RMAC Championship on Friday in Colorado Springs.

The Orediggers have now won 16 of their last 17 matches while moving their record against teams ranked in the NCAA Regional Rankings to 11-1 on the season.

The squad has also posted wins in 17 of its last 18 matches and the win over UCCS on Friday was the squad's school-record 23rd victory of the season.

As the top-seeded team in the conference, should the Orediggers win on Tuesday evening, the squad would host the semifinal and championship rounds of the tournament at Lockridge Arena on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Junior Melanie Wannamaker was named the Mines Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts during Mines' 2-0 week last week, while senior Jackie Stabell was named the RMAC/Baden Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week, and fourth overall this season, and freshman Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood was named the RMAC/Baden Setter of the Week for the third time this season.

Colorado Mesa (17-10, 11-8 RMAC) enters the match having won four-straight contests after losing seven-straight contests prior to its current winning streak. The Mavericks ended the season with wins over Fort Lewis (3-0), Western New Mexico (3-1), CSU-Pueblo (3-0) and New Mexico Highlands (3-0), respectively.

Mines is 9-18 against the Mavericks since the 1992 season and 3-3 over the last six meetings. Mines captured the only matchup this season between the two squads by a 3-0 final in Grand Junction on October 13.

All Colorado School of Mines students with a valid BlasterCard will receive free admission to the match, courtesy of the CSM Department of Student Life.

Adults (age 18 through 64) are $10, while senior citizens (age 65 and older), non-CSM students with valid student ID and children (age 8 through 17) are $5. Children seven years of age and under are free.
