DENVER – Plagued by cold shooting from the onset, the Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team fell 75-55 to second-seed and host Metro State Tuesday evening in the quarterfinal round of the RMAC Tournament at the Auraria Event Center in Denver.

The Orediggers finished the season 15-14 (12-10 RMAC), while the Roadrunners improved to 20-8 (17-5 RMAC), advancing to face the winner between third-seed UC-Colorado Springs and sixth-seed Colorado Christian in Friday's semifinals.

Mines played even with the Roadrunners throughout the second half, hitting 40.0 percent (12-of-30), but could only cut into its 19-point halftime deficit once when sophomore Taylor Helbig completed an old-fashioned three-point play at the 17:28 mark, bringing the score to 47-29.

Junior Courtney Gallo and Allie Grazulis combined for 32 points in the loss as Gallo matched her career-high with 19 points on a game-high 3-of-7 triples and 6-of-6 free throws and Grazulis posted her team-leading eighth double-double and with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Grazulis ends the year as the only player in the RMAC with a double-double average, ranking first in rebounding (10.3 per game) and 27th in scoring (10.5 points per game),and also topping the conference with 17 double-digit rebounding games

Nine Roadrunners made into the scoring column, paced by Amy Nelson with 18 points and Emily Wood with 16. Collectively, Metro State was 29-of-59 (49.2 percent) from the floor and 12-of-15 (80.0 percent) at the line, outscoring Mines by 18 in bench points and 14 in points off turnovers.

Playing in their final game in the Silver-and-Blue were seniors Angie Charchalis and Taylor McBain. Since the 2009-10 season, the duo has led Mines to 54 wins, 40 conference victories and three berths in the RMAC tournament.

Charchalis closed her collegiate career as the No. 2 all-time leading scorer at Mines with 1,414 points and the program leader for three-point field goals with 232.
