Orediggers Stymie Adams State For Third Straight Win

GOLDEN – Colorado School of Mines women's basketball ran its season-long winning streak to three in a row Friday, surrendering only 21.7 percent shooting in a 54-40 win over Adams State at Lockridge Arena. 

Mines (6-10, 5-7 RMAC) held the Grizzlies to just 10-of-46 field goals and a paltry 1-of-19 (.053) makes from three-point range in allowing its fewest points since an 83-34 win at Johnson & Wales on Jan. 25, 2010. 

The Orediggers took a 22-12 lead into halftime, limiting Adams State (7-10, 3-9 RMAC) to a 14.3 percent (3-of-21) clip and 0-of-10 threes. Mines kept the lead at 11 or more throughout the entirety of the second half, building a 19-point margin with 3:56 remaining, before cruising to its third straight win in the series. 

Seniors Tory Langas, Allie Grazulis and Courtney Gallo all reached double figures for the Orediggers, led by Langas with a game-high 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting and six rebounds.

Grazulis had 12 points on 4-of-6 makes with eight boards, overtaking Marissa Eichhorn (1998-02) for fifth on the Mines career rebounding list with 688. Gallo added 11, converting 3-of-4 outside the arc to move into a tie with Stephanie Fogle (2008-12) for third in program history with 119 triples.

Redshirt senior Katie Clements swiped a team-high four steals and grabbed a career-best eight rebounds as Mines controlled the interior, boasting a 42-28 rebounding advantage and 26-18 margin in interior scoring.

The Orediggers shot 43.2 percent (19-of-44) overall, 5-of-13 (.385) from three and 11-of-15 (.733) at the free throw line.

Mariah Gonzales led the Grizzlies with 13 points behind 11-of-16 free throws and seven rebounds.

The women host Fort Lewis at 5 p.m. Saturday in Golden as part of Alumni Weekend.
