Roadrunners Defeat Softball For First Time In Three Seasons

DENVER – Metro State ended a 10-game losing streak against Colorado School of Mines softball Friday, earning its first win in the series since 2011 with a 12-4, six-inning win in the teams' weekend opener at Auraria Field in Denver.

The conference-leading Roadrunners (23-10, 17-7 RMAC) hung two or more runs on the board in five of the six frames, including four in the second on a two-out grand slam to right center by Kaylynn Harmon.

Junior Cassie Ford and freshman Paige Noehring combined for four of the team's eight hits and all four RBI. Ford finished 2-for-3 with a first-inning, two-run home run, one double and a run scored and Noehring 2-for-4 with a two-RBI single in the fourth.

Seniors Morgan Anderson and Melissa Marshall each batted 1-for-3 with one run; freshman Rebecca Fallon was 1-for-3 and classmate Kara Walling 1-for-2 with a walk.

Sophomore Kristen Prudhomme (13-17) was tagged with her first loss in four starts after giving up seven earned runs on 11 hits and two walks in 4.0 innings.
