BOX SCORE GAME 1

BOX SCORE GAME 2

CANYON, Texas – A trio of mid-game multi-run scoring frames stalled Colorado School of Mines softball at the WT Woodward Invitational on Saturday as the women were dealt a 6-3 loss by Midwestern State and an 8-0, five-inning shutout by Tarleton State at the Buffalo Sports Park.

Following two scoreless innings, Midwestern State (6-4) took control in the top of the third with five runs on six hits, eventually leaving the bases full.

The Mustangs added an insurance run on a two-out RBI single in the sixth.

Mines (1-9) avoided the shutout with three in its final at-bat; sophomore Paige Noehring shot a two-out inside the park homerun down the opposite field line, scoring junior Elise Dugwyler and classmate Jackie Vasquez.

Noehring swung 1-for-4 in the game, pushing the second-longest hitting streak in Mines history to 23 straight with the team's first homer of 2015.

Junior Dana Gallegos was 2-for-4; Dugwyler and freshman Pua Fujinaga each batted 1-for-3, and Vasquez finished 1-for-2.

Junior Kristen Prudhomme (0-3) went 2.2 innings with five earned runs and eight hits allowed in the setback.

Spurred by a three-run home run and two-RBI triple, Tarleton State (8-3) provided two four-run innings of support for starter Katelyn Conlee in the teams' afternoon finale.

Conlee yielded only four hits and a walk in the 5.0 innings, fanning five to move to 2-0.

Gallegos accounted for two of the four base knocks, going 2-for-3, while Fujinaga hit 1-for-1 and freshman Sonoma Toot 2-for-3.

Freshman Hallie Smith (1-5) surrendered four earned on nine hits and fanned a season-high seven batters in her team-leading fourth complete game.

The Orediggers finish their second Texas stint in as many weekends at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (MST) on Sunday against Texas Woman's and Cameron, respectively.
