Regis Storms Back To Topple Orediggers

DENVER – Regis rallied from an eight-point first half deficit and outscored Colorado School of Mines women's basketball by 19 after intermission to claim a 77-59 home win Saturday at Regis Fieldhouse in Denver.

Following a slow start by both teams, Mines (11-12, 6-11 RMAC) grabbed its largest lead of the afternoon, 26-18, on a three-pointer by senior Sam Rusk with 5:14 to play in the first.

The Rangers (14-7, 10-7 RMAC) pulled within 33-32 at half and continued the momentum into the second, growing the margin to 58-41 less than 10 minutes in. Regis shot 15-of-32 (.469) in the frame and closed at 40.7 percent (24-of-59) overall, 31.8 percent (7-of-22) on threes and 88.0 percent (22-of-25) at the line.

Caresse Williams led with a game-high 23 points, Sarah Seefeldt had 14 and Kaycee Hert 12.

Regis turned the Orediggers over 19 times, resulting in a 23-7 scoring advantage.

Mines finished 42.9 percent (6-of-14) from outside, but hit only 21-of-59 (.356) field goals and 11-of-22 (.500) free throws.

Junior Courtney Martin reached double digits for the ninth straight game with 19 and added a game-high nine rebounds.

Rusk had 11 and freshman Kristin Rydell 10.

The Orediggers resume their road swing at 5:30 p.m. next Friday, Feb. 13 against Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D.
