#22 Mines Cruises Past CSC Behind Strong Hitting Performance

How It Happened
#22 Colorado School of Mines hit .405 as a team to sweep past Chadron State 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-19) on Parent's and Alumni Night in Lockridge Arena.

Behind a monster 11 kills on .733 hitting from Janice Jin, the Orediggers (17-5, 11-2) withstood a determined Eagles (6-16, 5-7) squad.

Mines came out of the gates very strong as they hit .459 as a team and got six kills from Ellie Monarch in the first set blowout. Marina Hansen was particularly strong in the set as she assisted on all 17 of the Orediggers' kills in the frame.

The second set saw Mines jump out to a pretty large lead which reached its apex at 22-15. The Eagles did narrow the advantage and got as close as 23-20, but a kill by Madeline Behr followed by a CSC attacking error sealed the frame. Jin was a sizzling 6-for-7 on attacks in the game as well.

By the final frame, Mines continued the script of the first two frames by once again hitting north of .400. Once the Orediggers got up by as much as seven (18-11), the Eagles couldn't break through as Mines cruised to a 25-19 win in the finale.
