Mines Caps Homecoming Weekend With a Sweep of Adams State

How It Happened
The 16th-ranked Colorado School of Mines (14-3, 7-0) capped a perfect weekend with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-19) sweep of Adams State on Saturday night in Lockridge Arena.

Trailing early on, Mines fought back and found themselves tied 18-18 with ASU in the opening frame. The Orediggers then rattled off four straight points with kills from Madeline Behr and Alanna Winfield to finally get some breathing room. From there, Mines did enough to get the final three points and take the frame, 25-22.

With the Grizzlies best shot out of the way, the Orediggers got down to business and really took it to Adams State in the second set. Mines hit .320 in the period while holding ASU to .067 to run away with a 25-16 win. LaRose Currie was five-for-seven in the set to pace the team.

Mines again proved it was the dominant team in the third frame as they broke a 10-10 deadlock and turned it into a 20-14 advantage due in large part to the excellent serving of Delany Duis. While the Grizzles got back as close as 23-19, the Orediggers' lead was too much, and they settled in for the 25-19 victory.
