INDIANAPOLIS
- Robert Gambrell won the 174-pound title to lead four placewinners as #13 Colorado School of Mines wrapped up the fall semester at the Midwest Classic at UIndy.

The Orediggers, making their first appearance in the 41-year history of what is widely considered the top regular-season NCAA Division II tournament, finished eighth with 70 team points in a field that featured 16 teams ranked in the NWCA top 25. #2 McKendree won the team title.

Gambrell took out two nationally-ranked wrestlers to earn his title. In the semifinals, he faced #7 Hayden Bronne of Tiffin and worked a 6-2 decision; that put him up against #5 Bret Romanzak of Ashland in the final, where he compiled two escapes and a takedown to hold off Romanzak 4-3.

Anderson Salisbury ended a breakout tournament with fourth place at 184 pounds, going 3-1 on Sunday. Salisbury's day was highlighted by his second top-12 upset of the weekend as he beat #8 Brody Conner of UIndy 11-10 in the consolation semis; that put him against #10 ZeBrandon Gant of Newberry, who he had lost to in the quarterfinals, for third place, but Gant again came out on top in an 8-4 decision.

#5 Weston Hunt secured fifth at heavyweight after a tough semifinal loss to #6 Jake Robb of Mercyhurst, 5-2. Hunt did not finish a match after that, giving up a medical forfeit to McKendree's Caleb Gossett in the consolation semis, and the fifth place match with Drury's Jared Rennick was not contested.

#11 Skyler Lykins ended up seventh at 165 pounds with a 2-1 Sunday. Lykins beat James Penfold of Lake Erie 7-6 in the consolation fourth round but lost to Limestone's #12 Garrett Beam 6-5; that sent him to the seventh-place bout where he won by medical forfeit over Dante Springsteen of Mary.

Wes Rayburn, after wrestling back with three straight wins at 141 on Saturday, lost 7-2 to Central Oklahoma's #11 Nate Keim in the consolation fourth round to start Sunday. Ryan Fidel, who had done the same in the 157-pound consolation bracket, wrestled tough but lost 5-2 to Newberry's #3 Austin Palmer on Sunday.

Mines returns to action Jan. 10 at the National Duals in Louisville, Ky.
