#9 Mines Places Seven At RMCO

GOLDEN, Colo.
- #9 Colorado School of Mines wrapped up the wrestling regular season by hosting the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open at Steinhauer Fieldhouse on Sunday.

Mines had three second-place finishers in Teague Dilbeck (141), Perry Rodenbeck (174), and Keegan Bean (197), and Jack Damenti placed third at 157. Carter Noehre (149), Drew Hinkle (184), and Michael True (285) ended up fourth. 

Rodenbeck advanced to the 174 final with a 16-1 tech fall over Chadron State's Tucker Allison in the semis, but he lost a hearbreaker against unattached Corbin Smith, 3-2, in the final. Damenti ended up third at 157, going 5-1 overall. After losing his quarterfinal bout, Damenti went pin-major-decision to reach the third-place match, where he beat Ryan Wilson 9-4. 

At 197, Bean earned a second-period pin over Ryder Fuchs, then advanced to the final on a medical forfeit before losing to unattached Farrett Niel by fall. Anthony Spallino went 1-2 on the other side of the bracket.

Mines had three competitors in the 141-pound bracket in Wes Rayburn, Dilbeck, and Taylor Gambill. Dilbeck went tech fall-decision-fall to make it to the final, where he lost to Utah Valley's James Emmer. Rayburn advanced to the championship semifinals on the other side of the bracket after a major against CSU-Pueblo's Dino Cencellieri and an 8-5 decision over Chadron State's Joe Ritzen, but lost to an unattached James Emmer 6-1, then withdrew on a medical forfeit in the consolation semis. Gambill wrestled back from an opening-round loss with a medical forfeit and a major decision against Western's Johnny Murphy before falling in a close 3-2 decision to unattached Brad Bitting. 

At 149, Carter Noehre wrestled back to the third-place match in a 3-2 day. Noehre had back-to-back pins and then a 15-0 tech fall in consolations before he was caught by Chadron State's Chance Karst in a first-period pin to end up fourth.

At 184, Connor Ventura advanced to the semifinals with an 8-6 win over Hunter Morse, but lost to eventual champion Josh Wengreen, 7-4, in the semis, and Josh Flanagan, 5-3, in the consolation semis. Hinkle was on the other side of the bracket and also made the semis with an 8-2 win over Chadron State's Terry Winstead before losing to CSC's Jay Westcott; he then beat Hunter Morse 11-6 in the consolation semis before suffering a close 3-2 loss to Flanagan in the third-place bout.

At heavyweight, Michael True won a 10-2 major and first-period fall to advance to the championship semis; he then advanced to the third-place bout via medical forfeit, but his final match was not contested.

Jake Stogdill (125), Logan Pleninger (157), and Aidan Funk (165) suffered 0-2 days.
