Brad Avenia joined the Mines staff as Director of Facilities and Aquatics in the Student Recreation Center in December 2018. He has been involved in campus recreation and athletics for his entire professional career and has a passion for providing excellent student experiences and high-quality, well-maintained facilities to the Mines recreational community.
Avenia started his career in programming, successfully providing students with high-quality intramural programming before moving over to working in facilities. An active NIRSA member, Avenia has been part of the Registry of Collegiate Recreation Sports Professionals since 2011 and had an opportunity to present a presentation at the annual NIRSA Conference in 2018. Brad is also a certified American Red Cross lifeguard, American Red Cross Lifeguard instructor, National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified pool operator, American Heat BLS and Heartsaver CPR instructor, and American Red Cross CPR instructor.
Brad grew up in Rhode Island and enjoys reading, following sports, spending time with family, officiating high school baseball and exploring new places.
