Chuck Canepa enters his seventh year as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the Colorado School of Mines golf team in 2019-20. His passion for the game and the opportunity to contribute to the development of young men led him to the position of assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Mines.
A former Colorado State High School (all divisions) champion and Colorado State Junior Amateur champion, Canepa played at both Oklahoma State and Colorado State during his collegiate career.
He finished as the third-low amateur during the 1971 Colorado Open Championship and won amateur events throughout the state. Additionally, in 1972 Canepa finished runner-up to tour pro Dave Hill at the Colorado Open Match Play Championship.
Canepa played in two USGA championships: the 1968 US Junior Amateur where he made match play, and the 1972 US Amateur Championship, the last year of stroke play, where he made the cut en route to finishing in 52nd place.
