Colorado School of Mines Athletics

Michelle came to Mines October of 2018 as the Facility Coordinator for Rec Sports.

Michelle grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico and moved to Boulder, Colorado as a junior in high school.  She completed her BS in Chemical Engineering at CU Boulder and spent the following year working as a graduate research assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory before returning to Colorado to complete her Masters in Chemical Engineering at Mines.

Michelle’s career path took a turn in a different direction when she accepted her first professional endeavor with Accenture, an IT consulting firm in Denver.  After six years with Accenture, Michelle moved to Nashville, TN, and landed in a new role as senior healthcare analyst with Healthways.  Upon her return to Golden 2.5 years later, she continued to work remotely for Healthways until Nov, 2016. 

After a bit of time off, Michelle has decided to pursue something a little different … She is excited to return to campus life at Mines.  Her half-time role as facility coordinator at the student rec center will enable her to be engaged in the Mines community while also allowing her to be present at home before and after school for her son, who is currently in his first year at Bell Middle School in Golden.  Michelle resides in Golden with her husband, Torsten (also a Mines alum) and their son, Camden (11 years).  Outside of work and life responsibilities, Michelle enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors: mountain biking, rock climbing, backpacking, and skiing.
