One of the most accomplished wrestlers in Colorado School of Mines history, Robert Gambrell begins his coaching career as a graduate assistant with the program in 2020-21.
Gambrell wrapped up his career at Mines as an all-American and two-time national qualifier. His 73 career wins ranks 12th all-time and his 73-24 record is fourth in Mines history for winning percentage. His exceptional senior season (18-1) saw him set the Mines record for season win percentage as he won NWCA Super Region VI Wrestler of the Year and NWCA All-America honors; he was the #1 seed for the NCAA Championships at 174 pounds, as well, after a perfect 17-0 record against D-II opponents. Also outstanding in the classroom, Gambrell was a CoSIDA Academic All-American and the RMAC Academic Wrestler of the Year in 2020.
Gambrell earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Mines in May 2020.
