Flynn served as the host media coordinator for the 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships in Denver, and was on staff for the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds at the Pepsi Center in 2016. His work with track & field helped earn him the 2019 USTFCCCA Excellence in Communications Award for NCAA Division II.

He arrived in Golden after eight years as the director of athletic communications at his alma mater, Lebanon Valley College, in Annville, Pa. Flynn built that school's athletic communications operation into one of the best in NCAA Division III, launching a new web site, GoDutchmen.com, and building some of D-III's largest followings with LVC's social media properties.

Flynn began his career with a two-year stay at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he was an athletic communications assistant and later associate director, handling media relations duties for Penn’s football, wrestling, and women’s lacrosse programs, among others.

In addition to his work in higher education, Flynn has been on media relations staffs for numerous major events, including the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion, the 2006 and 2007 FedEx Orange Bowls, the 2007 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight, the Penn Relays (2006-08), and the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships (2006, 2007, and 2013). He was the official scorer of the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championships from 2007 to 2010, and was a statistician for the 2008 Armed Forces Basketball Championships at Ft. Indiantown Gap and 2013, 2014, and 2015 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association High School Basketball Championships.

At LVC, Flynn was the host SID for numerous major events, including the 2011, 2012, and 2013 NCAA women's basketball opening rounds, the 2011 NCAA women's basketball regional round, the 2008, 2013, and 2015 Commonwealth Conference softball championship tournaments, and the 2013 Middle Atlantic Conference Track & Field Championships. At Penn, Flynn was the host SID for the 2007 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship at Franklin Field. He served a term as chair of the Middle Atlantic Conference Sports Information Directors group and served on the MAC 100 organizing committee as well as the MAC and LVC Hall of Fame committees.
