GOLDEN, Colo. – A monster first half from
Emily Bailey sparked a Colorado School of Mines 81-62 victory over Chadron State in the RMAC opener for both teams on Friday, December 2 in Lockridge Arena.
Bailey dropped 20 of her 22 points in the first half as led a quartet of Orediggers (5-5, 1-0) in double figures scoring in the rout. The 22 points by Bailey also tied her career-best which was originally set against Black Hills State last January.Â
Both teams came out firing in the opening quarter as Chadron State (0-4, ,0-1) dug out of an initial early hole to take a 24-22 lead at the quarter break. The Eagles continued their momentum early into the second quarter as Kylah Collins finished off a 14-0 run to give them 29-22 lead with 7:48 left in the half.
That would be the last bit of positive news for CSC though as the Mines defense locked in and the offense came to life in a major way. After Chadron State's 14-0 run, the Orediggers responded with runs of 11 and 21 which totaled to a 32-5 run and a commanding 57-34 lead with 4:15 left in the third quarter.Â
That game-defining 31-5 run saw
Emily Bailey score 10 points and the Orediggers get three-pointers from
Paige Husa,
Elizabeth Tomon,
Laura Tyree and two from
Cassidy Budge.
Mines would then grow the lead to a much as 28 (71-43) before taking the foot off the gas to cruise to an 81-63 victory.

-Â Â Â In tying her career-high for points,
Emily Bailey finished 9-12 from the field and 2-2 from deep. Bailey consistently beat her defender off the dribble and got into the lane from the baseline.
-Â Â Â Only leading the rounding battle 24-20 at the half, Mines thoroughly dominated the boards in the second half as they ended up winning the battle 51-39.Â

Anna Kollmorgen had a strong game of 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists as she shot 50% (5-10) from the field.

Cassidy Budge continues to be a force off the bench as she chipped in 14 points, and was 4-7 from long range. She also had seven rebounds.
-Â Â Â Mines hit 10 of 25 attempts from deep to shoot 44% from three-point land.

Elizabeth Tomon also reached double figures with 11 points.
