GOLDEN, Colo. – A double-double from
Anna Kollmorgen helped Colorado School of Mines to a dominating 93-64 victory over Adams State on Saturday, January 28 in Lockridge Arena.Â
Mines (13-11, 9-6) never trailed as they jumped on the Grizzlies (1-17, 0-15) early and never looked back.
Cassidy Budge provided a career-tying 21 points off the bench as she paced four Orediggers in double figures scoring.
Mines asserted itself early and often as they used two different eight-point runs to jump out to a 30-13 lead by the end of the first period.
Elizabeth Tomon scored nine points of those 30 points as nine different Orediggers scored in the quarter.Â
As open and as free-flowing as the first quarter was, the second quarter was a defensive slog as only 21 total points were scored. The offensive slow down did virtually nothing to Mines' lead though as they took a 40-24 lead into the halftime talk. Anna Kollmogen scored four points in the second period.Â
The low scoring second quarter proved to be a mirage as Mines opened the third quarter on a 19-2 run to put the game away for good. That dominating run featured six points each from
Emily Bailey and
Anna Kollmorgen as Mines scored an impressive 34 points in the quarter to push its advantage to 74-39.Â
From there, it was essentially cruise control for the Orediggers as played out the stretch for a 93-64 win.
