Bailey Drops 32, Mines Outlasts MSU Denver In OT

GOLDEN, Colo. - Emily Bailey scored a career-high 32 as Colorado School of Mines came from behind to force overtime and win, 73-67, over MSU Denver in the regular-season finale.

Bailey's layup with eight seconds remaining tied it at 60-60, and Mines hit a 9-0 run in overtime that included five points by the redshirt sophomore to win. The Orediggers will next head to Colorado Mesa for an RMAC Shootout quarterfinal Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Cassidy Budge scored 17 off the bench as the Orediggers (16-14/12-9 RMAC) bounced back from an eight-point halftime deficit to win. The Roadrunners controlled the first half as Mines had a dismal 3-for-15 shooting performance in the first quarter.

Coming out of halftime, however, Mines started the third quarter on an 11-0 run to erase the MSU Denver lead and go up 39-36; that began a see-saw half that saw neither side lead by more than three over the fourth quarter. Trailing 56-55, Bailey converted a three-point play with 1:40 left to take the lead, but J'Nae Squired-Horton hit a jumper at 1:18 to tie it, and Georgia Ohrdorf scored with 15 seconds left to take the lead. Bailey then knocked down her layup with eight ticks left to force overtime, and the Roadrunners couldn't find a winner at the buzzer.

In overtime, Metro used free throws to take a 64-61 lead with 3:55 to go, but Mines caught fire after that. Mikaela Moore's layup was followed by a Bailey three and Paige Husa layup, and Bailey added some foul shots to make a 9-0 run and a 70-64 lead. Mines would outscore MSU Denver 12-3 over the rest of the extra period to win.
