MINES IN THE TOURNAMENT
Mines is aiming to catch fire and win its first RMAC Tournament title. Last season, the #1-seeded Orediggers were upset in the first round, 79-63, by Fort Lewis.
EARLIER THIS SEASON
Colorado Mesa won the only meeting with Mines earlier this season, 72-66, back on Jan. 13 in Golden. Mines connected on more field goals (25-19) and shot a better percentage (38.5%-to-36.5%) than Mesa, but 11 of CMU's 19 made field goals were three-pointers and they shot 23-of-26 at the line to grab the road victory.
Mikaela Moore and
Emily Bailey each had 13 points for Mines, while Bryanna Adams had a 28-point effort for the Mavericks.
BAILEY'S CAREER NIGHT
Emily Bailey has had no shortage of impressive performances this season, but her game against MSU Denver may have been the best of her career. Bailey's 32 points were a career high as she notched her second career double-double with 10 rebounds, and added two blocks, two assists, and two steals to that total as she played a career-high 43 minutes. Bailey went 9-for-9 at the line and sank three three-pointers. It was her ninth 20+ point game of the year and third in a row to end the regular season.
A HELPING HAND
Laura Tyree set the program assists record earlier this season, and she continues to put space between her and every other Oredigger in that category. Heading into the weekend, Tyree has 396 career assists, 49 more than the old record. She's bidding to be only the ninth RMAC player to reach 400 career assists.
