LAS VEGAS, N.M. - #20 Colorado School of Mines bounced back from a first-set loss to beat New Mexico Highlands, 3-1, in their RMAC opener on Friday.

The Orediggers (7-3, 1-0 RMAC) hit .361 in the match, as Ellie Monarch led with 18 kills and Marina Hansen put up 63 assists. 

NMHU came out firing to win the first set 25-20, but Mines rallied from behind in the second to win 26-24 on kills by Abby Tiesman and Janice Jin after it was 24-24. From there it was all Orediggers, with the visitors hitting a whopping .593 in the third to win 25-16, then holding the Cowgirls to .122 in the fourth to win 25-17.

Monarch hit .429 from the middle while Tiesman had 12 kills on 16 swings to hit .625, adding a match-high six blocks. Janice Jin (16K), Lindsey Jin (14K), and Maddie Behr (10K) also landed in double-digit kills, while LaRose Currie got under 32 digs. 

Mines continues RMAC play Saturday night at CSU-Pueblo.
