Oredigger WBB Dominates New Mexico Highlands, 74-54

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team trailed New Mexico Highlands by 11 early in the second quarter Thursday, but used a 12-0 run in the second period and 24 points in the third quarter to cruise to a 74-54 victory inside the Wilson Complex.
 
Nicole Archambeau and Heidi Hammond led the Orediggers (11-6, 8-3 RMAC) with 12 points each. Cassidy Budge also scored in double digits, adding 11 points in the victory. Archambeau made it her seventh double-double of the season with a game-high 14 rebounds.   
 
NMHU's Ari Baca led all scorers with 16 points. The Cowgirls (4-13, 2-10 RMAC) have now lost seven-straight games. Mines moves into a tie for third place in the RMAC standings.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Thursday marked Mines' 28th win over New Mexico Highlands in 61 contests.
- The Orediggers are 28-33 in the all-time series with NMHU, riding a six-game win streak against the Cowgirls.
- Hammond's 12 points mark a career high for the sophomore, surpassing her previous career-best 11 points Feb. 11, 2017 against Colorado Christian.
- Mines' 74 points marks its highest scoring output since a 84-62 win over Colorado Springs, Dec. 17, 2017.
- The Orediggers 45-percent shooting percentage is also their best since shooting 52 percent from the field against UCCS on Dec. 17.
- Head Coach Brittany Simpson is 88-72 in six seasons at Mines.
 
STAT OF THE GAME
52.9 – The Orediggers shot 52.9 percent from 3-point range against New Mexico Highlands, marking their best 3-point shooting performance of the season.
