Mines Wins Fourth Straight, 78-56, Over SDSMT

GOLDEN, Colo. - A surging Colorado School of Mines won its fourth straight game, out-working South Dakota Mines in a 78-56 win.

The Orediggers (9-6, 6-4 RMAC) outrebounded the Hardrockers (5-9, 2-8 RMAC) by a 47-30 margin as they led nearly the whole game.

Denali Pinto guided the Orediggers with a game-high 16 points, one of five scorers in double figures along with Courtney Stanton (14), Anna Kollmorgen (10), Madeleine McDonald (10), and Raven Herrera (10).

The Orediggers caught fire with an early 7-0 run as Pinto drained a three and Megan Van de Graaf hit back-to-back layups to lead 9-5, and Mines never trailed after that. The key run came in the second quarter as the Orediggers outscored SDSMT 16-6 over a 7:43 span, blowing a one-score game into a 40-28 halftime lead.

It was more of the same in the second half as SDSMT temporarily pulled the deficit to nine points late in the third quarter before a 7-0 Oredigger run shut the door. Mines continued to push in the fourth as Kollmorgen's three-pointer with 5:38 remaining gave them their largest lead of the game to that point, 67-49, before closing the game on an 11-4 run.
