Orediggers Fall Short at MSU Denver, 67-58

GOLDEN, Colo. – Three Orediggers scored in double digits Friday night for the Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team, but it was not enough as Mines fell at MSU Denver, 67-58, inside the Auraria Events Center.

Anna Kollmorgen led the Orediggers with 16 points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out one assist with one steal. Nicole Archambeau scored 11 points and came just two boards shy of a double-double, grabbing eight on the night. Denali Pinto rounded out Mines' double-digit scoring trio with 10 points. Pinto also handed out a team-high three assists and added one block and one steal.

As a team, Mines (10-7, 7-5 RMAC) scored 24 points in the paint and finished the game with five blocks compared to three from MSU Denver (8-10, 7-5 RMAC). The loss ends the Orediggers' five-game winning streak and extends the Roadrunners' streak to three straight victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED
MSU Denver struck first with a three-point basket just 37 seconds into the game. However, Mines responded with an 11-0 run fueled by long-range buckets from Archambeau, Pinto and Kollmorgen. The Orediggers' accuracy from behind the arc gave the visitors an 11-3 lead in a span of less than two minutes. Mines would ride that advantage to a 17-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Roadrunners responded to Mines' three-point shooting with a 21-point outburst in the second period to reclaim the lead, 34-30, heading into halftime. Raven Herrera and Archambeau combined for 13 points in the third period as the Orediggers matched MSU Denver point-for-point, 18-18. Unfortunately, the home team used a 15-10 final period to clinch the win in a game that featured no leads greater than nine points.
