Tomon Drives Orediggers Past Western State

GUNNISON, Colo. –
Senior forward Elizabeth Tomon scored a career-high 21 points Saturday as the Colorado School of Mines women's basketball team took down Western State 64-55 inside Paul Wright Gym.
 
The Orediggers (10-6, 7-3 RMAC) took an 18-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Mountaineers (6-11, 3-8 RMAC) outscored Mines in the second half but could not overcome their early deficit as the Orediggers pushed their lead to as many as 17 points in the third quarter.
 
Tomon's 21 points led all scorers as Nicole Archambeau also scored in double digits with 13 points and seven rebounds. Tomon also tied for the game high with eight rebounds. Anna Kollmorgen dished out five assists in the victory.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Saturday marked the Orediggers 25th win in the all-time series with Western State.
- Tomon's previous career high in scoring was 20 points at Colorado Mesa Feb. 28, 2017.
- Tomon also went 2-for-2 from 3-point range for the second time this season.
- Archambeau surpassed 200-career points Saturday against Western State.
- Emily Bailey grabbed the 340th rebound of her career against the Mountaineers.
- Kollmorgen eclipsed 450-career rebounds with her five boards Saturday evening.
- Courtney Stanton set a career high with eight rebounds in Gunnison Saturday.
- Head Coach Brittany Simpson is 87-72 in six seasons at Mines.
